Sarah Ruszala hit the Ottawa poetry scene like a hurricane in the 12/13 season. She gained quick fame by appearing as the opening act for Shane Koyczan when he performed at Algonquin Colege. By the end of that season Sarah was the OYPS Champion and part of the team that would finish second at the first YouthCanSlam.
Sarah has since become the Slam Master for the Ottawa Youth Poetry Slam and is one of the leading names in the resurgance of youth voices in the Ottawa scene.
