I feel like launching into a chorus of ‘Let It Snow’… but I would be lying.
I’ve had enough winter.
Through the drifts of snow there still came some poets and a feature born on the wings of the Great Eagles of Middle Earth… or something like that.
Panos, sometimes known as Playto, took the stage as host and also provided an open mic portion of the show, sharing one of his poems! What a great way to kick of the show!
But, this is a slam and in slam, there is NO MERCY! There is NO QUARTER! There is NO REASON TO KEEP YELLING LIKE THIS!
(Why DO people yell ‘don’t be nice’ at slammers? I think there are a lot of slammers who are very nice! That is a good thing!)
With a slam comes a sacrificial poet so once again Playto stepped up to make his offering! 7.5 7.6 9.1 7.9 6.0 – 23.0
Uh, wow. Harsh, HARSH judging! Would they stay that harsh? (SPOILERS: No.) Would the adjust fast enough to avoid score creep? (SPOILERS: Not really, no.)
So who would get the unlucky bullet spot?
DMP. 8.1 8.0 9.1 9.1 9.0 – 26.2
Next up…. slamming for her second time this season, as she is back in town from school… Billie the Kid! 9.3 9.5 9.5 8.2 9.4 – 28.2!
Third was a poet who has been the Lanark County Slam Champion, but was making her Capital Slam debut, Marilyse! 8.0 9.0 8.8 8.0 8.3 – Add she went 3:41 for a 2 point penalty, leaving her at 23.1
Lastly we had Rusty Priske step out from behind the DJ booth for a slam spot. 9.5 9.4 9.7 9.3 9.8 – 28.6
After a break we came back for the CapSlam Return of BRUCE ‘DANCING FLOWER’ NARBAITZ!!
And for those of you unaware where he got that name from… here it is!!
Well, we didn’t see Bruce do that tonight, but he DID get us all up dancing!
But we still had some poets to… po… so back to the slam!
First up was DMP once again! 9.7 7.5 9.0 8.7 9.6 – 27.3
