Summer is Over!

This is the recap of the FINAL CPC Summer Slam of 2014!

O, how shall summer’s honey breath hold out
Against the wreckful siege of battering days,
When rocks impregnable are not so stout,
Nor gates of steel so strong, but Time decays?

But lo, what rock through yonder window breaks?
It is the wackiness, and slamming is the sun!

We might be running out of Summer but we still had one last kick at the can as ten poets threw down in a three-round blow-out of epic proportions!

Tonight was all about the fun before things get serious again in the fall and Rusty Priske was performing triple-duty as host/DJ/sac. Jenica was working the door and Nina of the Strange was handling the math.

First came the open mic and what would a CapSlam open mic be without a little Mayhem?
Then we got a fresh voice to the mic… Ilana Belfer!
Then we got a return of a poet we hadn’t seen on our stage in a while, Adam Balsam!

Then it was time for the slam… and with everyone eager to throw down, it fell to Rusty to be the sac as he took us down memory lane, all the way back to 1968… 8.1 8.5 9.0 7.7 8.5 – 25.1

With blood spilled, we turned to the magic hat and the first name drawn was… Obnoxious! 8.5 8.2 8.0 8.4 8.5… and a 3:43 time for a 2 point penalty. 23.1

Next was Nina Vuleta, making her Merc stage debut! 8.0 9.5 8.8 8.1 8.7 – 25.6

He was followed by a newcomer…. who has only slammed before in DANISH! Carl Abrahamson! 8.2 8.0 8.5 8.9 8.8 – 25.5
