CAPITAL SLAM SEMI-FINALIST SPOTLIGHT: KAY’LA FRASER

Our next CapSlam semi-finalist spotlight is on Kay’la Fraser.

Kay’la first made her presence known in Ottawa as a member of the Toronto Poetry Slam team that competed here at the Canadian Festival of Spoken Word in 2010. While her team did not make the finals that year, Kay’la so impressed the officials that she was asked to perform one her poems on Finals stage.

That was not the only team Kay’la made before moving to Ottawa but once here she quickly became immersed in the Ottawater and left her mark upon the scene, both as a poet and as the Capital Poetry Collective Volunteer Co-ordinator!

Kay’la is know to come up big in big shows, finishing very strong in both the VERSe Ottawa Women’s Slam Championships and the Capital Slam C.I.P.S. rep slam.

Here is Kay’la sharing some Youtube magic.
