Another CapSlam Semi-finalist spotlight!
This time it is on Rusty Priske!
Rusty first slammed back in the fall of 2006. The turnover in the slam community meant he quickly switched from ‘new guy’ to ‘established vet’, as he made the Capital Slam team in 2007. He continued that by making the team (as team alternate) in 2008 and 2009 (CapSlam’s first national championship team). He did not compete in 2010, as he was instead the Slam Master for the Canadian Festival of Spoken Word that year. He ended up as team alternate again in 2011 and currently holds the record for the most appearances on a Capital Slam team, at four.
He is probably more famous as the guy with the clipboard, as he is the Slam Master at Capital Slam. He is also a member of the Copper Conundrum and recently released his first book, ‘Rusty Priske: Trapeze Artist’.
